Sara, in many ways, embodies the American Dream. Raised in Miami by Cuban-born parents, Sara has experienced, first-hand, the joys and
challenges of getting ahead as an individual in a world that favors labels. A hard-working student and tenacious high school athlete, Sara won a volleyball scholarship that set her on a
long path through higher education that culminated with a doctoral degree from Georgia State University in 1993. Not surprisingly, Sara is a staunch believer in an individual's
ability to create their own path, regardless of the odds. She is committed to supporting her community and causes that promote equity, fairness, and empowerment.
In addition to an active teaching schedule, she has a thriving consulting and coaching business and maintains a small private psychotherapy practice in Needham.
A sought after speaker and trainer, Sara has been conducting corporate seminars and workshops for the past 15 years.
In 2011, she was appointed to the Massachusetts Health Disparities Council. In addition to family and career pursuits, Sara is a
passionate advocate and has run for elected office and served as a Town Meeting member for several years. Sara holds an executive coaching certification from the New England Institute for
Professional Excellence in Coaching, an ICF accredited school. Sara holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina – Asheville and a Ph.D. in
Psychology from Georgia State University.
